The serpentine-shaped lake that has earned the nickname “the magic dragon” is where families can enjoy boating, swimming, fishing and a variety of recreational watersports. Explore ancient caves or catch a water park wave
With a new adventure waiting for you every day, start by exploring Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park. Take a guided, kid-friendly tour through caves where the temperature is a cool 60 degrees year-round. In one of the most scenic caves in the country, see onyx formations created by water erosion over millions of years along with columns and drapery-like sheaths. The park also has lakeside viewing decks, nature trails and an observation tower along with facilities like a snack bar and gift shop.
Families can enjoy the outdoors at Missouri’s many state parks including Ha Ha Tonka State Park where nature and history come together. In addition to its trails, the park is a geological wonderland with sinkholes, caves and a natural bridge. Adding to the park’s scenic beauty are ruins of a stone castle that afford awe-inspiring views of Lake of the Ozarks and Ha Ha Tonka Spring.
Splish and splash at Big Surf Waterpark, which offers rides and attractions for all ages. Have fun at the Wave Pool, where a 375,000-gallon pool generates waves up to three feet tall, or coast along the 600-foot-long Lazy River. To get your adrenaline pumping, there are other water slides and pipe rides like Space Bowl and Challenger Flumes. The Surf Club area offers activities like sand volleyball, shuffleboard, basketball and pool along with a sandbox and children’s playground.
Families can dry off and grab a bite at the Surfside Grill. Only in the Lake of the Ozarks can families enjoy American food and Japanese sushi with a side of homegrown adventure—welcome to Malted Monkey Ropes Course, a restaurant and adjoining adventure zone with experiences called the Sky Ride and Quick Flight.
