4th Friday Art Walk
Prescott is home to scores of artists who continuously find inspiration amidst the cool mountainous forests. Their art, along with works by nationally acclaimed artists, can be found in a variety of gallery venues located in and around Prescott’s historic downtown courthouse plaza, where the beautifully preserved and functioning historic buildings provide testimony to Prescott’s past and present.
The 4th Friday Art Walk in Prescott is a much-anticipated monthly event initially organized in 2004, where visitors can glimpse exhibits and signature events produced by the galleries. Art exhibits include custom stained glass pieces, sculptures, paintings, immersive light installations, and more. Gallery guides are available at participating galleries and the Prescott Chamber of Commerce.

The Prescott art scene is a melting pot of artists and art galleries showcasing local creative talent, providing a fun way to immerse in the city’s dynamic culture. Prescott offers more than 20 art galleries boasting incredible creations from local arts, including affordable contemporary fine art, photography, jewelry and wearable art by area artists.
Art Education Programs for Children and Adults
‘Tis Art Center & Gallery is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit agency dedicated to promoting Prescott area artists, various art styles, affordable original art and art education. They offer free art education classes for children ages six and up, instructed by professional art educators. Lessons incorporated into the classes include science, art, technology, engineering, and math. Groups can gather at the third-floor banquet hall with Wi-Fi, a full kitchen, restrooms, an outdoor patio, tables, chairs, and a spectacular view of the courthouse plaza.
Named after local artist and the first president of the Cowboy Artists of America, the Phippen Museum offers history-based docent-led tours, studio art activities, and trail hikes to explore local geography, geology and ecology. Hands-on learning programs are provided to children and adults, aligning with STEM initiatives and educational standards for a fully immersive and creative experience.

Live Music Around the Community
Prescott boasts an exciting nightlife where live music can be heard for free on the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza during the City’s summer concert series several nights a week. Additionally, many of the bars and saloons in downtown Prescott also offer live music nightly.
Highlands Center for Natural History
The Highlands Center helps children and adults discover the wonders of nature and become wise caretakers of the land. We are a donation-based, non-profit organization and admission and parking is free. In their classroom without walls, you will discover Ponderosa Pine-covered mountains, deeply shaded riparian habitats, chaparral and woodland, remarkable geologic formations, incredible vistas, and forest inhabitants. The Center hosts Family Forest Play morning events for groups to engage in crafts, hike and enjoy the surrounding nature together. They also offer an exceptional venue space, perfect for hosting your family reunion surrounded by millions of acres of Prescott National Forest landscape.
World’s Oldest Rodeo
July 4, 1888, marked the birthdate of the professional rodeo in Prescott when a group of local merchants and professional businessmen organized the first “cowboy tournament.” They offered a cash prize, and when Juan Leivas became the first winner, the rodeo was born. The art of rodeo soon became a worldwide phenomenon. Attracting visitors from around the globe, the World’s Oldest Rodeo® is one of Prescott’s most treasured pieces of Western heritage. Plan a visit around the 4th of July each year to experience all of the activities and events centered around this dynamic experience in Prescott. Specialty acts and entertainers include iconic rodeo clowns, precision riding and rope tricks by incredible women riders and other Western performances.
